When an article is crossposted in several groups including moderated ones,
one of the moderated groups is picked -- usually the leftmost moderated
group in the Newsgroups-line -- and the article is forwarded to the
moderator of that group for approval or rejection. If the message is
approved, it appears also in the other unmoderated and moderated groups
listed.

===================================== MODERATOR'S COMMENT:
As explained in the newsgroup FAQ
http://www.comeaucomputing.com/csc/faq.html#A4
the proper place to send this question is to the moderators,
not to the newsgroup. (Postings sent to the newsgroup will not
necessarily reach the moderator who maintains the posting software.)
We are currently having problems with cross-posted articles, and don't
yet have a solution.
===================================== END OF MODERATOR'S COMMENT
Posting a message to [comp.std.c++] used to result in two feedback mails:
* A receipt message.
* An acceptance or rejection message.
Now nothing happens before the message appears in the group, if it does.
At least one posting of mine disappeared into thin air (I think that was
because it was in response to a cross-posted message that had earlier
appeared separately in one of the cross-posted groups, namely clc++m).
What's up?
Can it be fixed?
--
A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is it such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?

Crossposting where at least one group is moderated has always worked
funkily for me (at least with my news server). The unmoderated posting
seems to be held up until the moderated group approves that posting.
I have no confidence that a message crossposted to multiple moderated
groups would ever get out of the server.
