1) Footnote 253 (Page 581) ends with superfluous trailing parentheses.
2) Footnote 326 (Page 879) has no content, not even the remark "This
footnote is intentionally empty".
Is this remark missing or some proper content?

Nope. It's an artifact of the differencing package. Don't worry about it.
