The C++ standards committee subdivides its workload into smaller
informal working groups. What working groups are active varies from
time-to-time. Some years ago, before work began on C++0x, the active
working groups were Core, Library, and Performance.
Now that work on the Performance Technical Report is complete and much
effort is focused on C++ 0x, active working groups are Evolution, Core,
and Library. Evolution does the initial work on major changes and
additions, and then passes them on to Core and Library groups for final
action. Evolution's work on C++0x will be complete in about a year or so
when the official Committee Draft is published, and that group will then
presumably disband so the all effort can go into Core and Library groups
as they respond to public comments on the Committee Draft.

Hello,
Could someone clarify the structure, with respect to projects, of the
C++ standards committee. My understanding is that there are 3 "areas":
- C++ core language extension proposals
- C++ library extension proposals
- C++ performance issues
Further, that TR1 slices through the first two projects and that the
bulk of the work for TR2 deals with library extensions.
