Topic: Is the 'raw' form of the Standard (SG|X)ML??

I would like to know the form of the Standard document before it is
converted to PDF, or print. Some of this is idle curiosity, but I do have
a more tangible reason for asking.
I was wondering if it might be instructive to lay the Standard out in a
manner similar to the way UML class diagrams are constructed, and then
include visual representations of crossreferences between sections. This
is somewhat akin to a technique I've seen used at a US DoD collaborative
planning facility. In that case a document similar to the C++ Standard was
tacked up on a wall and string was used to represent the crossreferences.

IIRC it is in troff, and I am not sure to what extent that has been
modified by the editor.
