I have got it from NCITS for $18.00. See

http://www.techstreet.com/ncitsgate.html

and look at the "new" panel of standards on the right.

The bad thing is that it is the totally protected version of the PDF file.
So no copy-and-paste as mentioned in a thread here previously. I have
complained and I had a reply that indicated that a number of USA nationals
have pointed this out, NCITS have talked to ANSI but so far I have not had
any feedback. It was 2 weeks ago that I got this.

If you can live with no copy-and-paste then this might be ok for you.

The C99 standard is ok.

Just among us friends:

If you have the full Acrobat package (i.e., Exchange and Distiller)
not just the reader, you can print to a Post Script file and have
Distiller build a new, totally unprotected copy.

Hi all,

I've been frustrated by the ANSI webstore refusing to accept my credit
card payment, so I have been unable to obtain an electronic copy of
the standard (on clicking purchase I get "The payment request was
declined by the processor").

Is anyone outside the US allowed to download the ANSI standards? Has
anyone had any success doing this? (My credit card is fine, by the
way)

I did contact ANSI on the website concerning my problem a few weeks
ago, but there was no response.

Is there any way of obtaining the electronic (i.e. cheap) version from
anywhere else? The BSI (British Standards Institute) site is asking
for 100 quid for the paper one, which is a little beyond my current
enthusiasm for C++. Is the BSI site likely to offer the electronic
version at any point in the future? It seems that it should be
possible for me to obtain the electronic standard from somewhere,
somehow...

I hope this isn't off topic, but the CD2 draft just doesn't cut it any
more. :o(

Way back when I bought it (2 years ago), they had trouble accepting ZIP codes of
fewer than 5 digits. The suggested workaround was to pad the code with dashes or
somesuch. Worked for me (in Australia, where we have 4-digit postcodes).

Or just stick the POSTAL CODE in the "STATE" field and 5 digit nonsense (11111) in
the zip field.

The real issue seems to be whether or not your credit card will accept
billing in US dollars, as I know several non-US residents who have
been able to buy and download from ANSI with non-US credit cards.

The other US source is the National Standard for Information
Technology Standards (http://www.ncits.org) which is closely allied
with ANSI. I have purchased standards from them as well as from ANSI,
but since I am a US resident I do not know if they have the same
issues with non US credit cards.

In any case, to save you the first few screens, go to:

http://www.techstreet.com/ncitsgate.html

Type "14882" in the top box and click the search button. You might
have more luck there.

Thanks Jack: success! I expect the ANSI webstore validation code was
written in Java. :o)

WARNING !!!!

You will find Tom, that the version they distribute is the fully protected
version of the PDF file. So no copy-and-paste. I have complained about this
and got a message back which indicates that they are taking it up with ANSI.
This was 3 weeks ago.
