Hmm, I was sure I saw it there before for $18 when I got the C++ standard.
I'm having trouble searching for the electronic standard from their site
without that link. Perhaps it's not meant to be accessible (or perhaps I
just can't find it ;). Anyway, ncits has the electronic version of the C
standard for $20:

http://www.cssinfo.com/cgi-bin/detail?product_id=40124

However, I wouldn't just jump on this. I notice the size of the file on the
ANSI site is different than the one on NCITS. I'm guessing the one on the
ANSI site has more of the document as text instead of scanned images, but I
could be wrong.

It's much bigger than the C++ spec. The C++ spec derives
much of it's simplicity from the fact that it's doesn't
have to repeat much of the C and Library stuff that works
the same between both languages.

Even C99 is considerably smaller than the C++ Standard. I have no idea
where you come up with the above idea.

The C++ standard is 766 pages despite cross-referencing the C90 standard
for much of the standard library. My copy of the draft C99 standard is
only 566 pages, and C90 was quite a bit smaller.

Yep, I was wrong. The only thing that's larger is the size of the disk
file evidentally, as it's a scan of the pages rather than text.

I believe that Jack Klein has responded to this. The currently published
standard (C89) was originally prepared for electronic publication in the old
days. The publication is, I think, scanned in page by page. The C++ standard
essentially started as an electronic document with the intent to publish it
that way. However, there is a site where, with a little searching, you can
find the C89 standard for a much lower price (about $20). Jack has a link to
it on his page:
http://jackklein.home.att.net/
this takes a few clicks, but you learn along the way; if you are really
impatient, go to:
http://www.ncits.org/
and do a search for ANSI/ISO/IEC 9899:1990.

Regards,
Sam

The C90 standard was produced before it became common practice for
standards documents to be formatted electronically. The 13.5 MB PDF
file was produced by scanning a printed hard copy. This was also
before the era of the decision by ANSI and NCITS to distribute
standards in PDF format inexpensively.

The same 1990 original C standard is available from NCITS for $20.00.
See http://www.ncits.org.

Note in either case that this is not the current standard. The C99
update became official when it was published in December of 1999, and
should be available from both ANSI and NCITS in PDF format for $18 to
$20 within the next few weeks.

This looks like the C90 standard.
