You are both right:
Fergus: U doesn't work because of V doesn't either
Pete: U doesn't work because of W doesn't either
Any of {V,W} would make U valid. There is no
point in trying to decide if V is more guilty
than W.
Valentin: U doesn't work because both V and W
don't work.
