Someone questioned whether these articles should have been approved.
Since I approved the second one, I thought I should respond as a
moderator for this newsgroup.

Discussion of the C++ standard library is of course appropriate,
and what is loosely known as "STL" is part of the standard library.

Discussion of whether some implementation meets the C++ standard
is appropriate.

Ordinarily, general programming questions don't belong in this
newsgroup, but we moderators have been allowing all STL-related
questions, at least until STL becomes more widely known and
implementations have converged on the standard.

Discussion of how to use a non-standard feature of some implementation
is not appropriate for this newsgroup. You could take those questions
to any of the other c++ newsgroups, such as comp.lang.c++ or
comp.lang.c++.moderated, or to implementation-specific newsgroups.

Does anybody know where I can go to discuss this with people who have had
experience with this library?

I would think here (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). The STL
is part of the Standard C++ Library and SGI's implementation is quite
good. We've been using it with great success for two years now.
