There is no shortage of disagreements on the C++ Committee :-) but
that rumor is false. Some proposed extensions to STL, and to C++
generally, have been rejected at committee meetings this year
because accepting them would have delayed the schedule.

That information is posted here from time to time.

The draft standard went out for public comment April through July 1995
(part of the ANSI process), and was accepted as a Committee Draft (part
of the ISO process). A second CD will be required next year, along
with a second public comment period, probably next April. If all goes
well, that draft will be voted on by ISO member nations in 1996,
and sent to ISO for publication as an International Standard (and
in the US also as an ANSI Standard) in 1997.

If I can add to Steve's statement: contrary to this apparent
rumour, STL RESCUED the C++ standardisation effort.
Disagreement over incorporation was resolved quickly
(in two meetings) and enabled a strongly focused effort,
not only in the Library part of the effort, but also
in other parts, particularly development and finalisation
of template facilities.
