Indeed. So why are you promoting a M$ marketing conference?

It appears that you are doing this as a volunteer. (i.e. you are not
being paid)

As a volunteer you have more latitude to present your own views and
to avoid any words that you wish to avoid. If you were being paid to
talk, then you would probably have less latitude.

It might be useful to explain to everyone before the talk what motivates
you to present your views. For some reason, people seem to pay more
attention when they know the person is not on someone's payroll.

It is a shame that more people do not have the financial independence
to help promote technology and to move the industry forward. You are
fortunate to be able to publish and speak without the restrictions that
come with financial relationships.

Keep up the good work...keep spreading the word...
...keep multiplying instances of loaves and fishes...
...some of us appreciate your unbiased evangelistic efforts...

Dream on. I have spoken gratis at a conference only once (because I was a
board member). People find my knowledge worth paying for.

If anyone wants to fabricate a hidden agenda, they can see my affiliations
listed in my bio. My true motivation is goodwill and to try to stem the
tide of C++ disinformation put out by certain individuals (hint, hint).
Another strong motivation is I don't want to be inconvenienced or killed
by what some naive programmer might try to do with C++. Bad programming is
a danger to everyone in a computerized society.

I am one of the speakers. I've been accused of various things in my
career, but hyping Microsoft isn't one of them.

I will be showing how to use OOD and OOP to help overcome defects in C++
code. That's lots of object think with examples in C++. Some of the things
I'll be showing include how to patch C++ libraries not under your control,
how to debug trace within assertions, how to make assertions behave as
exceptions, and how to test code in an OO way to reveal many bugs that are
otherwise obscure. I may even talk about some of the mathematical
underpinnings of software defects.

I didn't say the "M" word once when I spoke at this conference last year.
How likely is it I will this time?
