People interested in the ANSI C++ Standards effort might want to visit
the web site for....http://www.x3.org
(Note: http//www.w3.org is also interesting...but that is another story)
Both C and C++ are covered...here are some tid-bits...

X3J16 - Programming Language C++
Technical Committee X3J16 is responsible for the technical development
of the standard for the C++ programming language. The goal of this
project is to make it possible for C++ programs to be highly portable
among different operating systems and across a wide variety of computers.
High level of compatibility with the ANSI C standard and suitability for
the International community are two associated goals established by X3J16
that will help to extend the useful life of this standard and increase

Many of the pages at this web site are under construction, but finally
is appears that ANSI is moving from paper and pencil to the Web...more
importantly, the names of the companies and people involved in all of
these activities are now starting to be posted. Hopefully, soon all of
the transcripts of the meetings as well as e-mail exchanges will be
posted...more to come...
BTW...as you can see above...we at least now know who is responsible
for the activities of these committees as shown above...Hopefully, they
have taken good notes...note there are no "Secretarys" for either group...
