For some reason, Smalltalk people always seem to take a more rational
and moderate approach to solving problems.
Just like UNIX in the "old days", the "small is beautiful" approach
has a lot of merit.
UNIX seemed to come off the rails with the introduction of C++,
System V Release ?, and UNIX Systems Labs. Maybe it was the divestiture
and the emphasis on competition and commercial relevance that turned
the tide.
I hope that the tide shifts back to "Small (is beautiful) Talk"...:)
We have come a long way from the "birds of a feather" meetings where
we camped over night and sat on the floor at Murray Hill engaging in
small talk about UNIX and C.
