The list of the members of the ANSI Standards Committee is being
assembled. We appreciate all of the people that have sent information
and who are helping to assemble the list.
It has been difficult to figure out exactly how many committees there
are and working groups. Also, ISO and ANSI are clearly very separate
bodies. Also, it appears that some people participate but are not really
"on the committee", they have someone else from their company do the
official voting...
To give you an idea of places this information can be gathered...
...here are some excerpts from the April 1995 issue of the...

P.J. Plauger is senior editor of C/C++ Users Journal. He is convener
of the ISO C standards committee, WG14, and active on the C++ committee,
WG21. His latest books are The Draft Standard C++ Library, and
Programming on Purpose (three volumes), all published by Prentice-Hall.

Chuck Allison is a regular columnist with CUJ and a Senior Software
Engineer in the Information and Communication Systems Department of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake City. He has
a B.S. and M.S. in mathematics, has been programming since 1975, and
has been teaching and developing C since 1984. His current interest
is object-oriented technology and education. He is a member of X3J16,
the ANSI C++ Standards Committee. Chuck can be reached on the Internet

Dan Saks is the president of Saks & Associates, which offers consulting
and training in C++ and C. He is secretary of the ANSI and ISO C++
committees. Dan is coauthor of C++ Programming Guidelines, and codeveloper
of the Plum Hall Validation Suite for C++ (both with Thomas Plum). You

Please keep in mind that since the above information was in a printed
publication, it could be easily 3 months out of date. We can only assume
that since the publisher indicated that this is the April 1995 issue,
the above information is reasonably accurate...since this is April...

There are over 200 member of the C++ committee, most of whom do not
publish in magazines or get quoted in them.
For about the 10th time, you can have a complete up-to-date membership
list and copies of the minutes listing the working groups and their
activities by joining the committee or by writing to ANSI and asking
for them. It is quite clear that you really don't care, but only
want to cause upset and dissention, since you persist in taking the
least effective but most vocal approach to finding out anything
about C++ or the C++ committee. For about 1/100th of the time and
effort you have invested in trying to disrupt this newsgroup you
could have had complete and accurate answers to all of your questions.
You prefer instead to collect and publish unsubstantiated anonymous
rumors which usually have no relationship to reality.
I am somewhat optimistic by nature, and like to think the best of
people. If bizarre behavior can be explained by assuming a simple
lack of data or understanding, I prefer to believe that is the reason,
since it is correctible. Sadly, we are long past that point in your case.
There can be no possible question that your intentions are purely evil.
Therefore, although up to now I have been willing to reply to your
postings that contained reasonable questions or comments, I have
decided that I will no longer reply to any of your postings.

We have asked, no list was provided. Maybe we needed to beg...like dogs!

The Internet is not always the most effective approach but for some of
us it is one of the only tools we have. We do not have a big billion
dollar company doing our research for us, we do it ourselves...

Why not just publish the list of members?
You say above there are "over" 200 members.
Can you give us the exact number? (try "wc <ansi.list")

You can conclude anything you like. My goals are to have the best
ANSI Standard for the C++ Programming Language because society will
live with that for a long time.
You might be concerned that "THE" Standard will not look like your
current DRAFT. This is a valid concern but that is what the standards
process is all about. That is why there is a public comment period.
By the way, as far as I know, the public comment period has NOT started
yet. At least the folks from "edg.com" have told me that it hasn't.
If your goal is to whip up a quick "draft" and then to drop it on the
public and to get a rubber-stamp approval in a day or two, I suggest
that you go study the ANSI process.
I anticipate that language experts from every part of this planet will
be focusing on the ANSI C++ DRAFT Standard, if and when we ever see it.
I imagine that many of them will provide very valuable inputs into the
process. Maybe you should take a little break so that you are ready to
respond to their inputs when the public comment period starts.

AHH..I see you are going to take a break...well this
is the second time in so many weeks that you have
decided to do this...as noted above, this will probably
give you a needed rest and will also allow you to "follow"
the wishes of the people that want to squelch all communication
regarding the "forthcoming" standard...
BTW...You have said over and over 1000's of time that it will be
ready by the end of April...are you still on target for this..??
