A few people have sent me mail indicating that the reason that
the ANSI Committee working on the C++ standard does not publish
their list here is......
...that even though the committee numbers 250 people, only a few
understand the language or the issues....the rest are evidently
diletantes that are part of the process because they think it is
"cool" to be on an ANSI committee...they also like to travel...
...supposedly the core group tolerates these people because it
makes their efforts appear to be well-supported in corporate arenas
and it helps to generate membership fees for ANSI which also gives
the process a sense of credibility...
Several people are pulling together the list of committee members.
Some of the people working on this list have indicated that the
more they look at it, the more this charade becomes clear...
Hopefully, when the "forthcoming" and "imminent" DRAFT standard
is released for public comment, there will be some indication of
who actually wrote what...that list is expected to be very small.

You seem to care very deeply about C++ for
someone who does not support C++, and advocates
life lived entirely in "C+@". Don't concern
yourself with C++: it, and its wretched little
minions of satan, are far, far, far beneath you.
You can barely see them....they look like ants...
....as you float gently up to the outer reaches
of the outernet, your eyelids feel heavy.....
you are sleepy now, as you join your companions
in the spaceship....they have such lovely names
on their outer-space suits: "me" "myself" "I"
...hush, now....can you feel the C+@ curl up in
your lap....the voices are getting quieter now...
your ears stop ringing....hushabye....sssssh!

You have been instructed by Mr. Steve Clamage of Sun Microsystems that
you are not supposed to respond to these postings. I am surprised that
you are not following the orders of an important committee person.
As a reply, how do you know that I am not on the committee. Are you
on the committee? Do you have a list of members of the committee?
I assume that you are aware that $600 buys a seat on the committee.

Because, if you were on the committee, you would actually *know* something
about the committee. You clearly don't. Why don't you come to one
of the meetings? Judging from your postings, you obviously have
too much free time on your hands.

Yes, but they aren't very good seats. I find them quite hard by the
end of the day. Unfortunately, the meeting rooms aren't large enough
for everyone to bring their own barc-a-lounger. Or, for you Jim, I guess
that would be a meow-a-lounger.

You do not have to spend your time rewriting the String class
a 1,000 times or debating complex syntax which can never be
made clear because the underlying model is flawed.

I might. The details of the meeting time and place are still not
clear. Since you *appear* to be on the ANSI committee maybe you
could post the details.
Also, please include information on landing helicopters at the
meeting site....

I'm sure this is really eating away at you. Just think, if you had been
luckier you could have been on the committee yourself, meeting as you do
all those qualifications!
