Topic: HELP Exception-Handling

Hallo,
I need information about error-handling and exception-handling (books,
articles, ...). Does anybody have guidelines when, why and where to use
exceptions in C++ (or perhaps return codes).
I m interested in ideas about the neccessary functionality of an exception
base class, e.g. generation of protocols.
Is it better to derive many exception classes or to stick with a few
exception classes and to introduce global error numbers?
What kind of experience do you have with exception-handling
in large software systems?
How can I integrate a class-library (e.g. StarView) in my exception-handling?
Is there an elegant possibility to use exception-handling in multithread
environments (OS/2)?
Are there any (ANSI) standards for designing exception-classes (like streams)?
Any pointers are welcome!
Thank you for answers
Karin
