UNIX SOFTWARE ENGINEER


KENETECH Windpower, Inc the nation's leading renewable energy company, has
an immediate opening for an experienced software engineer.

This individual will help design and implement our next generation Windplant
management and Control System (WmCS).  The WmCS is a Sun/Motif based GUI used
to provide near real-time data acquisition, control, diagnostics and monitoring
of Windplants world-wide.  Based upon established requirements, this individual
will make recommendations, provide solutions, and be involved in the final
design and implementation.

The ideal candidate will have the following requirements:

   *    A minimum of 5 years of post-graduate industry experience
   *    Sun workstation experience, ideally with Solaris 2.x (or SYS V)
   *    X Windows/Motif GUI development
   *    UIM/X experience (or other GUI builder)
   *    IPC concepts, especially sockets
   *    Proficient in C programming
   *    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
   *    Be able to work in a team environment
   *    A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering

Areas that would be considered a strong plus are the following:

   *    Networking concepts including SNMP and Sun Net Manager API
   *    Database applications, ideally using Informix
   *    Structured design methodologies
   *    Object Oriented analysis, design and implementation
   *    Real-time control systems
