Funny I have an online copy that I can read via Mosaic. You must have
meant to say something else. I am trying to figure out if/when I can
permit all the world to read it. Right now, only X3J16 members can
read it. If you become a member, I will add you to the access file
and let you read it online.
It isn't yet clear to me that I cannot let everyone read it.

No, I meant what I was saying, but I was apparently wrong.
Please keep us informed whether or not you are permitted to let all of us
humble programmers read the Standard. BTW, could you please explain how to
become a member of the committee.
Possibly we can agree on moderating my statement to...
...there will be no _public_ online copy of the ANSI/ISO C++ Standard.
I am citing...
1). "C++ Books & Online Tutorials" by Harvey_Taylor@tvbbs.wimsey.bc.ca
ftp://ftp.demon.co.uk/pub/books/reviews/cppbl.txt

This document [the Standard] is not currently completed. The current
schedule for the standardization process is:
July 1994 (CDR) Committee Draft Registration. (Done)
June 1995 (CD) Publication of a Committee Draft for public review.
February 1996 (DIS) Draft International Standard
November 1996 Final Publication.
Note that the ANSI-ISO C++ Standard doc itself is not available
online. Neither is the ANSI-ISO C Standard doc. Also note, there
will be no rationale document for the ANSI/ISO C++ standard.

Q5: Where can I ftp a copy of the latest ANSI-C++ draft standard?
A: You can't. ANSI standards and/or drafts are NOT available in
machine readable form.

You can get a paper copy by sending a request to:
Standards Secretariat
CBEMA/X3
1250 I Street NW
Suite 200
Washington, DC 20005
Ask for the latest version of `Working Paper for Draft Proposed
American National Standard for Information Systems -- Programming
Language C++'.
The last known phone number: 202-626-5738. The last known price
is $25.

This is wrong. There exists a _proposed_ CDR. It has not yet been
voted on.

My understanding is that it will be posted to an ftp site only when the
poublic comment period starts (estimated to be March of 1995).
If you find out otherwise, let me know!

According to several sources there will be no online copy of the ANSI/ISO
C++ standard. Also, there will be no rationale document [whatever _that_ is].
But, there is an online document describing the differences between the ARM
and the ANSI/ISO standard (or at least the major ones). It is not covering
the STL, though. It's available as...
ftp://ftp.std.com/AW/stroustrup2e/iso.ps
Note: This server isn't always accessible [my experience: almost newer].

_Inter_net is an _International_ forum.
The C++ committee, ANSI/ISO X3J16/WG21 is an
_International_ committee operating both separately
and together as an ANSI and ISO committee.
If you do not wish to offend non-American contributors
to this process, please refer to the committee and its work
either as ANSI/ISO, ISO/ANSI or plain ISO.
