The ANSI C standard allows for freestanding and hosted implementations
of C. I would like to do the same with C++. Some work I'll be doing
will run in a rather barren environment (for speed and weight) but
requires C++. It is not entirely clear what the standard will allow
for conformance, or if such a thing will be allowed at all. The
working paper (25 Jan 1994) does not mention environment at all, as
far as I can tell.
In the end it matters little because I'll provide what I can provide
and that is all, but I would really like to know what current thinking
is.
I would also like to hear (by mail) from anyone who might have set up
g++ to do such a thing, as that's where I'm headed.
