I am relatively new to C/C++/Turbo C programming and am in the process of
selecting a compiler.  In doing so I have become quite confused as to the
many different compilers and their advantages.

What makes the Borland C++ compiler so great (and more expensive) then others?
Also, what are some of the differences between C++ and Turbo C?  Which would
be more suitable for a beginner as myself?  I mostly program engineering
applications and am quite adept at Fortran.

If anyone has any suggestions, please respond.
