In general -- if you want an electronic copy, you need to ask
your local national body. In USA thats ANSI, in Germany its
DIN, in UK its BSA, in Australia (and New Zealand) you can ask me.
I can't send you a copy if you are not prepared to particiapte
in the Standardisation process -- and assisting with my
airfares isnt counted as assistance :-(

[This is not my wish. Its the rules of Standards Australia]

So, ...
will there be an online copy in the US?

This national decision approach seems like a bit of an anachronism in the
days of the Internet!?!

As ISO working papers and even CDs are NOT copyrighted by ISO, is there
any chance that the SC22/WG21 editor of the text would be willing to upload
his current word processing file version of the draft to an anonymous ftp site
for interested spirits like myself? I would be happy to offer our
site ftp.uni-erlangen.de:pub/doc/ISO/ for this!

No. CD Registration is what happens in a few weeks. The committee
is scheduled to vote at the March, 1995, meeting to move on to CD
status.

>And what does this mean wrt stability of the standard?

It has started to stabilize. No really major features are expected
to be added or removed even now, and once CD status comes along it
gets very hard to add or remove even minor features.

>And when will it become a DIS

"Best Case" schedule is for early '96.

>and IS?

"Best Case" schedule calls for transmittal in late '96, which I
guess means a publishing date sometime in '97. But the CD vote
this coming March is what many practical programmers will focus on
since that effectively finalizes the feature set. The remaining
work is concerned mostly with getting the wording right to describe
the features.

No, the Project Editor will submit it to ISO for distribution
for SC22 balloting on _whether_ it should be registered as a CD.
I expect almost every nation will vote "YES WITH COMMENTS",
and that ISO will proceed to register the document as a CD,
accepting assurances from WG21 that the comments will be addressed.

What is the current schedule for the ISO C++ standard?

Is the rumour true, that it will enter CD status within a few weeks from today?
And what does this mean wrt stability of the standard? Are major modifications
still expected after it has become a CD? And when will it become a DIS
and IS?
