I'm surely getting tired of wading through items cross-posted to comp.lang.c++
and comp.std.c++. It seems that many of the 'std' postings are also in 'lang'.
Worse, some recent long threads have been cross posted to comp.lang.c,
comp.std.c, comp.lang.c++, and comp.std.c++. If it's about C and C++ being
banned by the US Government, the wide distribution is probably correct.
If it's about how many bits can be squeezed between the magnitude and
fraction part of a float, this probably should be more confined.
Questions about the standard, the standards process, and pickly language
details properly belong in 'std', although it is certainly ok to post
them in 'lang'. General language questions, and especially questions
specific to implementations do not belong in 'std'.
Not everyone appreciates the differences, or will cross-post in the hopes
of reaching a larger audience. That is not necessarily bad. But if you
reply to such a posting, I suggest replying ONLY in the most appropriate
group (in your opinion). This will cut down on useless net traffic and
save us all some time.
Please note I have cross-posted this comment (not necessarily bad). I
don't think it requires a response, since if you disagree, just ignore it.
If you wish to respond, then ... [left as an exercise for the reader]
