Help!

I need some _decent_ documentation on how use MAKE and write
MAKEFILEs for both DOS and unix.

I've been using BC3.1's make.exe so far, and while their
documentation has been a really good start (also reference to the
old TurboC manual too), I would like to be pointed in the
direction of either an FAQ on this particular subject, or some
source of really good documentation on and examples of makefiles.

BTW, I'm really impressed with just how useful MAKE can be for
program development work! (As I'm doing development work under
unix, I'm deliberately avoiding IDE's and using the command-line
compiler and linker with make files for everything except for
detailed debugging work).

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers
Tony
