I've experimentally determined that some stream io functions (ofstream
constructor, ofstream::write) do set the errno variable when an operation
fails (can't open file, out of space, etc...).

Is it defined anywhere that the stream io functions properly set errno
when an operation fails?

Your help, especially email, is appreciated because it's kind of
urgent that we get assurance on this matter.
