Topic: Pointer swizzling in ObjectStore -- how implemented?

I was wondering if anyone could fill me in on the inside details of
how Object Store implements its pointer swizzling as it maps a page.
Specifically, I am curious how the vtables are properly built for each
object -- how do the vtables get the correct relocation info, etc.? I
am most curious how they get this to work without requiring any
compiler support, and maintaining compiler-independance.
Thanks,
-frank
