If you are worried about numerical C/C++, you should be aware of the
existence of the "Numerical C Extensions Group", an ANSI C X3J11 subgroup,
which has the charter of working on the problems which C faces when viewed
from the numerical standpoint. The group has already produced several drafts
of various extensions to ANSI C which they feel are necessary for its use in
numerical work. The group has a mailing list, nceg@timbuk.cray.com, which is
somewhat active. Send mail to nceg-request@timbuk.cray.com to join.
Note that at least one vendor of C/C++ compilers, Zortech, has chosen to
implement most of the last nceg draft in their C++ compiler.
If you wish to affect the evolution of numerical extensions to C/C++, you
should probably join this working group.
