Is there a general (public) place to go to check what's the current status
of a paper, proposal or not?
I could ask here each time I want to know a paper's status
but I think it's something that could be automated somewhat.
I looked at the next standard github git log but it does not tell the
status of all papers.
I looked at the bugzilla at isocpp (is it an official tool?) but it's
tracking papers.

There are multiple ways. http://cplusplus.github.io/EWG/ewg-active.html giv=
es
you the currently-unfinished Evolution business.
http://cplusplus.github.io/EWG/ewg-complete.html
gives you the finished Evolution business.
The mailing pages like the one at
http://open-std.org/JTC1/SC22/WG21/docs/papers/2015/#mailing2015-05
give you the status of new papers (Adopted/Revised).
Editor's reports like
http://open-std.org/JTC1/SC22/WG21/docs/papers/2015/n4528.html
tell you what papers, if any, have been adopted into the working draft.

I look first there but the meaning of the 'blank' state is not clear. I
don't know if the papers
have even been discussed officially, even when the last meeting is far
after the publication.

Thanks again, bookmarked.
I'll think of a way to gather and easily update this data.

Well, chances are that if there's no revision and no adoption, the paper ha=
s
somehow fallen on the floor. That's one of the reasons why we have more spe=
cific
tracking mechanisms, like the issue lists and the LEWG bugzilla.

Note that you don't want to bookmark that specific document, there's going =
to
be a new one after a new draft is released.

I do read trip reports but it's not exactly what I'm asking here because a
lot of paper
could have been quickly discussed and the person reporting don't know or
don't report it.
Basically, an official source is better.
