There is an header field (In-Reply-To) which gives the Message-Id of the=20
message to which you reply. If you create simply a new one with the same=
=20
subject (the mention of copying the title makes me believe that), there is=
=20
no such indication and it makes harder for tools to make the link.

     Hmm, I see =E2=80=98Reply To:=E2=80=99 inside my e-mail client (Apple =
Mail 9.3,) but no option to show an =E2=80=98In-Reply-To=E2=80=99 field or =
anything similar in the message header from. Nice to know, anyway, though.=
  (The reason I=E2=80=99ve been forced to copy and paste things is because =
I prefer digests and am set to only get them unless I=E2=80=99m directly ma=

The References and In-Reply-To headers are meant to be added=20
automatically
and not set by the user. Obviously digests don't fit well in that=20
system.

See RFC 2822 (or a follow-up if there was one since I looked at it), if
you are interested in what headers are possible.

I have written some very clunky "proof of concept" code for interfaces in
C++:

https://github.com/wkaras/c-plus-plus-misc/blob/master/IFACE/example.cpp

https://github.com/wkaras/c-plus-plus-misc/blob/master/IFACE/iface.h

A member function call (using a variadic macro) through an interface is
relatively unclunky, looking like:

result = IFACE_CALL(iface_inst, member_func, param1, param2)

whereas, if interfaces were in the base language, a call would probably
look something like:

result = iface_inst.member_func(param1, param2)

Conversion from an interface to another of a different type is unsullied by
macros:

new_iface_inst = iface_convert<New_iface_type>(old_iface_inst);
